As a PGA Class “A” Golf Professional, author, and professional speaker of Winning Strategies to Unleash the Champion Within, I’ve dedicated more than 35 years to teaching, coaching, and studying the game. Golf has always been more than a sport to me—it has been a lifelong exploration of movement, discipline, and the pursuit of continuous improvement.
I was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta, where I grew up playing hockey, golf, football, and baseball. Playing and Coaching hockey at an elite level, and that environment became the foundation for how I learned, trained, and approached skill development. The discipline, biomechanics, and competitive mindset required in high‑level hockey shaped the way I understand athletic movement and ultimately influenced how I teach golf today. I began caddying and playing golf at the age of twelve, and that early exposure to golf sparked a passion that shaped the rest of my life. My love of the sport naturally evolved into a love of coaching and teaching, and I found great purpose in helping people develop both their skills and their confidence.
Throughout my career, I’ve watched many golfers struggle not because they lacked ability, but because they were never taught the game on a solid foundation. That realization drove me to focus on teaching the why behind the swing—how grip, posture, alignment, sequencing, and movement patterns work together to create consistency and control. When golfers understand these fundamentals, they gain the clarity needed to make meaningful, lasting improvements.
A group of students eventually gave me the nickname “Doc,” recognizing the diagnostic precision I bring to instruction. They often joked, “He fixed my swing,” and that sentiment captured exactly what I strive to do. Like a physician, I believe in identifying the true cause of a golfer’s challenges rather than masking symptoms with temporary fixes. Every swing has a cause‑and‑effect relationship, and when you understand the underlying mechanics—pressure shifts, face control, swing path, and sequencing—you unlock the ability to create real, sustainable change.
This philosophy led to the creation of Between the Pins Golf Coaching and Instruction. It was built on the belief that golfers deserve more than quick tips; they deserve a structured, fundamentals‑based system that produces measurable progress. Here, players learn to build a repeatable motion, develop confidence through understanding, and trust their swing when it matters most.
I believe wholeheartedly that anyone with the desire to learn can improve. When proper fundamentals are combined with a clear, diagnostic approach, improvement isn’t just possible—it becomes inevitable. My mission is to help every golfer discover the potential already within them and experience the game with greater confidence, purpose, and enjoyment.
